Tragedy in China: 22 dead in horrific restaurant fire in Liaoning province

Beijing: 22 people have died and three others have been injured in a fire at a restaurant in Liaoyang city in China's Liaoning province on Tuesday afternoon. According to China's state news agency 'Xinhua', the fire broke out in the restaurant at around 12.25 pm. The reason for this has not been given yet. However, in the pictures related to the incident, huge flames can be seen coming out of the windows of the restaurant. According to the news, Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered proper treatment of the injured.


This is the second major fire incident in China this month. Earlier on April 9, 20 elderly people died in a fire at a nursing home in Longhua County of Hebei province in northern China. A total of 39 elderly people were present in the building when the fire broke out in the nursing home. At present, no information has been given about the cause of the fire. It is being told that this incident of fire took place sometime after noon. At the same time, in the pictures received from the spot, large flames of fire were seen coming out of the windows and doors of the two or three-storey building.


22 people died in fire in China

Industrial accidents happen frequently in China. The biggest reason for this is working in a very bad environment. People work under a lot of pressure and companies or restaurants do not care about the lives of their employees. They are not given any training to avoid fire or save people and they have a huge lack of facilities. This is the reason why the goods made in China are very low priced, because the compulsions are paid very little, while their working hours are more. Poorly maintained infrastructure, illegally stored chemicals and a lack of fire retardant resources also contribute to the number of fires. While local officials are corrupt and do not take action against companies or restaurants operating in poor conditions.


Diners across China are very fond of a dish called "hot pot", in which meat and vegetables are cooked over open flames. Liaoyang in Liaoning province, part of China's rust belt, a former industrial powerhouse that is going through hard times due to the exodus of much of the population. The rising flames of the fire in the restaurant have also caused the fire to catch and spread rapidly.
