Washington: US President Donald Trump has described the assailant who opened fire at his dinner party on Saturday as a "radical" and "anti-Christian." The shooting incident, involving a 31-year-old man, occurred on Saturday evening while Trump was attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Secret Service agents apprehended the individual before he could enter the hall and identified him as Cole Thomas Allen from California.
During the subsequent investigation, officials discovered a manifesto written by the individual, in which he outlined the motives behind his actions. In it, he leveled several serious accusations of criminal misconduct against officials within the Trump administration. When questioned about the allegations contained in this manifesto during an interview on the US broadcaster CBS News' program *60 Minutes*, Trump became visibly irate.
Trump characterized the alleged attacker as a "sick man" and criticized the interviewer, journalist Norah O'Donnell, for reading the allegations aloud. Trump asserted, "You should be ashamed of yourself for reading that out loud, because I am none of those things."
"I read the manifesto. He had become a radical. He was a Christian, and then he became anti-Christian. He was, perhaps, a very sick man."

In his manifesto, Cole Thomas Allen had written: "I will no longer allow any pedophile, rapist, or traitor to soil my hands with their crimes." When Norah O'Donnell read this passage aloud, Trump lashed out in anger. He said, "I was waiting for you to read this, because I knew you would read it. You people are very bad people. Very bad people. Yes, he wrote that. I am not a rapist. I haven't raped anyone."
Trump Firing Update: 'Hatred towards Christians...'—What did Trump reveal regarding the attacker and Allen?
"Are you reading such nonsense from a sick man? My name has been linked to all sorts of things with which I have absolutely no connection. I was proven completely innocent."
— Donald Trump, U.S. President
Interrupting him, O'Donnell asked, "Do you think he was talking about you?" But Trump ignored the question and continued speaking. He went on to say, "I am not a pedophile." Trump interpreted these allegations as references to his ties with the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, even though there was no mention of this in the manifesto.
Trump Speaks on First Lady Melania
President Trump blamed the hate speech of Democratic leaders for the political violence in America, stating that it is extremely dangerous. On Saturday, while addressing the shooting incident at the Washington Hilton Hotel, he also provided an update regarding Melania Trump. Trump said, "I have been through situations like this a few times before, but the First Lady had not. She handled it very well. She is very strong. We went into a holding room for a while, and I told them to continue with the program if possible."
