Trump Ignored India for Family Ties With Pakistan, Says Ex-US NSA; “US Brand in Toilet”

Washington: Jake Sullivan, who was the US National Security Advisor in the Biden administration, has launched a major attack on President Donald Trump. He has alleged that Trump ignored relations with India for his family business with Pakistan. He also said that Trump has ruined the hard work done over the years to strengthen India-US relations. Sullivan is the first top official of the previous Biden administration to criticize the US tariffs on India.

Work has been done to strengthen relations with India

Sullivan said in a podcast, "For decades, on a bilateral basis, the US has worked to build its relationship with India, the world's largest democracy. India is a country with which we should unite on technology, talent, economics and many other issues and be prepared to deal with this strategic threat from China. And we have progressed a lot in this matter."

Trump sidelined India for family business

He said, "Now I think that because of Pakistan's desire to do business deals with the Trump family, Trump has sidelined relations with India. This in itself is a huge strategic move because a strong US-India relationship serves our interests. But imagine every other country in the world, Germany, Japan, Canada, you look at that and say that tomorrow we can do the same."

Even friends do not trust America

Sullivan said that this move of the Trump administration against India further reinforces his view that you have to defend against America. He said, "All of our friends and countries around the world have decided that they cannot trust the United States in any form. It is not in the long-term interest of the American people."

Direct impact of what is happening with India

Sullivan said, "Our word should be our bond. We should be true to our word. Our friends should trust us and that has always been our strength. And what is happening with India right now has not only a huge direct impact, but it is also having a profound impact on all our relationships and partnerships around the world."
