Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has contacted him for talks. Trump said that Iranian leaders have pushed for negotiations because they are tired of the pressure from the US. Trump's statement comes at a time when anti-government protests have been ongoing in Iran for more than two weeks. Donald Trump has supported these protests and threatened military action against Iran. This is increasing instability in Iran.
Donald Trump said that Iranian leaders have called for talks. They want to negotiate with the US. I think they are tired of being beaten by the US. We will meet with them; arrangements are being made for a meeting. Trump also said that if any untoward incident occurs before the talks, the US could take action. The US President also said that he is in contact with Iranian opposition leaders.
Trump Changes His Stance!
Since the protests began in Iran, Donald Trump has made aggressive statements. Trump said that the protests in Iran are for freedom. Therefore, we support the protesters and warn Iran against suppressing the protests. Trump said that he would hurt Iran in support of the protesters.
During the protests that have been going on in Iran for the past 15 days, Trump, who had appeared aggressive towards Ali Khamenei's regime in Tehran, indicated a change of stance on Monday. Trump spoke of talks and a settlement with Iran. If Trump's claim is accurate, then Tehran, which had been talking about retaliatory attacks until now, has also softened its stance.
Violence and Arson in Iran
The protests in Iran, which began over issues of inflation and currency devaluation, have now completely transformed into a movement to remove the Khamenei government. The protests have spread to almost the entire country. More than 500 people have been killed so far in clashes and violence between security forces and protesters. Among the dead are approximately 50 security personnel.
The Iranian government and President Masoud Pezeshkian have stated that they are willing to listen to the protesters. In his address, Pezeshkian said that addressing the people's concerns is our duty, but we will not allow rioters to destroy the entire society. We will not tolerate those who are setting the country ablaze.
