US Defends Handcuffing Indian Student, Calls It Lawful Deportation

Washington: Anger is being seen in India over the incident of mistreatment of an Indian student at Newark Airport in America. Before deporting the student at the airport, US officials handcuffed him and threw him on the floor and pressed his neck with their knees. The video of this incident is viral on social media in India. After Indians expressed anger, the US Embassy in Delhi has said that their country can never accommodate illegal passengers. The embassy has tried to tell that the Indian student had gone to America illegally, so he was returned.

The US Embassy in India has said on its X account that the US always welcomes passengers who come legally. But we cannot and will not tolerate illegal entry, misuse of visa or violation of US law. The embassy said that there is no right to travel to America.

    Indian Consulate took cognizance

The Indian Consulate in New York has taken cognizance of the viral video of the Indian student on social media. The embassy assured that they are in touch with the local authorities. The Consulate General of India in New York wrote on X, 'We have seen the post on social media, which claims that the Indian citizen faced difficulties at Newark Liberty International Airport. We are in touch with the local authorities in this regard and are always committed to the welfare of Indian citizens.'

Indian American entrepreneur Kunal Jain shared a video of alleged bad treatment with the Indian student on social media on June 8. Jain wrote on X that I saw a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport in New Jersey last night. He was handcuffed as if he was a dangerous criminal. He kept crying and giving his explanation but no one listened to him. After Jain shared this video, a debate started on this issue on social media.
