“We Knew Iran Would Be Attacked”: UK PM Keir Starmer Backs US Strike, Warns on Nuclear Threat

London: Britain has given a statement on the attack on three nuclear bases of Iran by the US in support of Israel. Britain has said that it is not involved in this action. However, it was already aware that Iran would be attacked. British Cabinet Minister Jonathan Reynolds told Sky News that the US attack on Iran was already informed. He said that Britain was informed as an important ally. However, the exact time of the attack was not given.

Jonathan said that America did not ask for support and Britain was not involved in it. He said that although Britain is not involved in these attacks, we are making extensive preparations for all possible situations. The British government is working to protect its citizens as well as its military bases, personnel and infrastructure in the region.

Damage to Iran's nuclear site

Israeli military spokesman Brigadier General Efi Defrin said his country was still assessing the damage caused by US attacks on Iran's nuclear sites. Defrin, when asked by reporters whether enriched uranium was removed from Fordo before the US attack, said it was too early to say. Defrin said the attacks were carried out in coordination with the Israeli military.

Meanwhile, satellite images show damage to the hill at the underground nuclear site in Fordo. The images, taken by Planet Labs PBC, show the once brown mountain has turned gray in parts and its shape looks slightly different than in previous photographs, indicating that debris was spread around the site due to the explosion.

Iran gave a strong response

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that he will go to Moscow on Sunday to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Referring to Russia, he said, 'We have a strategic partnership and we always consult each other and coordinate our positions. The attacks by the US at night have ended any possibility of diplomacy with the Americans or the Europeans.'

He said, 'Last week we were in talks with the US when Israel decided to end the diplomatic effort. This week, we negotiated with the European Union when the US decided to end that diplomacy. What conclusion do you draw? The British and EU comments for Iran to 'return' to the negotiating table are now impractical. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone end it?'

Appeal to the world to stop war

The head of the Red Cross said that the world cannot afford unlimited war. Mirjana Spoljaric, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, has warned that rising tensions in West Asia threaten to drag the region and the world into a war that will have irreversible consequences. Bahrain's Interior Ministry wrote on X: "In view of recent developments in the regional security situation, we urge citizens and residents to use the main roads only when necessary, in order to maintain public safety and allow the relevant authorities to use the roads efficiently.'

Officials said they have implemented work-from-home protocols for about 70 percent of the country's government employees. Bahrain is home to the US Navy's crucial 5th Fleet deployed in West Asia and has long been a threat to Iran.
