13-Ball Blitz That Sealed SRH's Fate: How KKR's Early Assault Decided the Contest

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs at Eden Gardens. KKR did not have a good start while batting first. De Kock was dismissed after scoring just 1 run. Captain Ajinkya Rahane handled the innings by scoring 38 runs in 27 balls. He hit one four and four sixes. Young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi performed brilliantly. He scored 50 runs in 32 balls. His innings included five fours and two sixes. Rahane and Raghuvanshi added 81 runs for the third wicket.

    Iyer finished the innings

Venkatesh Iyer batted explosively in the last overs. Iyer scored 60 runs in just 29 balls. He hit seven fours and three sixes. His strike rate was 206.89. Rinku Singh also scored 32 runs in 17 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 200/6 in 20 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi gave the team a strong start by scoring 50 runs in 32 balls. This was his first T20 half-century.

The match ended in just three overs

Chasing the target of 201 runs, SRH did not have a good start. Vaibhav Arora dismissed Travis Head in the first over. Harshit Rana took the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the second over. Then Ishan Kishan became the victim of Vaibhav on the very first ball of the third over. This brought Hyderabad's score to 3 wickets for 9 runs. This was the turning point of the match. Pat Cummins' team could not recover from these setbacks.

The middle order batsmen crumbled under pressure. Heinrich Klaasen showed some resistance. Klaasen scored 33 runs in 21 balls. He hit two fours and two sixes. But after his dismissal in the 15th over, SRH's hopes were over. Kamindu Mendis tried to continue the struggle by scoring 27 runs in 20 balls. But the run rate was too high. KKR bowlers kept the pressure on constantly. Varun Chakraborty and Vaibhav Arora took three wickets each. Andre Russell also took two important wickets. SRH were all out for 120 runs in 16.4 overs
