With this memorable victory, India secured the fifth spot in the tournament—marking the team's best-ever performance in World Cup history since 1974.

The match began with a fierce contest between the two teams. Neither side managed to score during the first two quarters. However, the Indian players adopted an aggressive approach in the third quarter. Ishika Chaudhary and Navneet Kaur scored two quick goals within minutes of each other, giving the Indian team a commanding 2-0 lead and pushing the German defense onto the back foot.

After finishing fourth in the inaugural 1974 World Cup, this marks the Indian women's hockey team's second-best performance in the history of the tournament.
