Controversy after the teaser of 'Ghoos Khor Pandit'
It should be noted that the Uttar Pradesh Police stated that the FIR was registered by SHO Vikram Singh of Hazratganj police station only after strong objections were raised against the trailer. Earlier this month, the 'Next on Netflix' event was held, where information about several upcoming web series and films was given. The teaser for 'Ghooskor Pandit' was also released at the same event. It immediately sparked controversy among the public. It was alleged that the title was defaming the Brahmin community.
Statement from 'Ghooskor Pandit' producer Neeraj Pandey
Producer Neeraj Pandey issued a clarification. He wrote in a lengthy post, "Our film is a fictional cop drama. The word 'Pandit' has been used only as a colloquial name for a fictional character. The story is based on the actions and choices of an individual. It does not comment on any caste, religion, or community. As a filmmaker, I do my work very responsibly, telling stories that are meaningful and respectful."
Neeraj Pandey decides to remove promotional material
Neeraj Pandey further stated that, as always, he has made this film with honesty. Its sole purpose is to entertain. He acknowledged that the film's title has offended some viewers and he understands this. Therefore, keeping everything in mind, he has decided to remove the promotional materials. "Because we feel that the film should be watched in its entirety and its story understood, rather than forming an opinion based on a small part of it. We will soon share the film with the audience and we are excited about it."
