Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi found himself in the middle of an unexpected storm on social media after Gujarat Titans pacer Arshad Khan dismissed Virat Kohli in IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli fans flooded Warsi's Instagram posts with comments blaming him for Kohli's dismissal. Many fans wrote "Kohli out kiya" on his recent posts as Arshad Khan and Arshad Warsi share the same name. This online attack happened when Arshad Khan dismissed Virat Kohli in the second over of the match. Kohli, who was trying to improve on his previous innings, tried to pull a short ball but the timing of the shot was poor and it turned out to be an easy catch, which was taken by Prasidh Krishna. Warsi has not reacted to the social media uproar, but fans have been commenting on his posts.
This is not the first time that social media anger has been directed at the wrong person after Kohli's dismissal. A similar case was also reported in the Ranji Trophy, when Virat Kohli's much-awaited return to domestic cricket after 12 years did not go smoothly. Kohli could only score 6 runs in the first innings for Delhi against Railways. After Kohli's early dismissal, Sangeewan was targeted on social media. Since the Railways pacer's Instagram account was private, angry fans targeted the wrong person who had the same name. The confusion did not end here. Delhi pacer Pradeep Sangwan, who also had the same surname as Sangeewan, also came under criticism online.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to field first. Explaining the decision, Gill said that his aim was to reduce mistakes and improve his game further. "It looks like a good wicket. We have seen that the conditions don't change much. We are focusing on minimising our unforced errors. We will try to improve the areas that need improvement. Kagiso is out for personal reasons, so we have brought back Arshad Khan," Gill said.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar confirmed the lineup without any change after consecutive wins against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. "I would have bowled first too, because it is a new surface. It is quite hard and won't change much. The way the boys are contributing, it gives me a lot of confidence as a captain. We love this crowd. The way they give us love and support is amazing. Same team," he said.
