Frustrated Ruturaj Gaikwad Explodes After CSK's Third Straight Loss: 'Powerplay Leaks Costing Us

Chennai: Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who lost to Delhi Capitals by 25 runs in the IPL match on Saturday, said after the defeat that the match is not going in our favor for the last three matches. For the last few matches, we are constantly trying to improve but it is not happening.

What did Ruturaj Gaikwad say after the match?

Gaikwad said in the presentation after the match, 'The powerplay is not going well for us. We are giving 15-20 runs more while bowling in the powerplay. Also, we are constantly losing many wickets while batting. I feel like we are coming under a little too much pressure or we are trying a little too hard.'

He said, 'I think we are too worried or unsure about who will come to bowl in the powerplay. We lose wickets in the first or second over itself. We are getting too worried about the things happening in the powerplay. Everyone needs to perform well together. We were always trying to equalize since the powerplay. We had Ash at number 8 and we did not have overton. We wanted to take the match till the end. Delhi bowled really well. Even when Shivam was batting, we were looking for momentum, but we could not get it.'

This was the state of the match

Delhi batted first and scored 183 runs for six wickets and then chased the target and restricted Chennai Super Kings to 158 runs for five wickets to win by 25 runs. Chennai suffered their third consecutive defeat in IPL 2025.
