Fourteen teams will participate in this World Cup, though only 10 have qualified so far. These include South Africa, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier for the remaining four spots will be held in February-March of next year. A total of 57 matches will be played during the tournament.
World Cup 2027 Groups
Group A –
Afghanistan, India, Australia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Qualifier-A
Group B – Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Qualifier-B
The ICC has already announced the tournament format. The first round will consist of three matches. The three lowest-ranked teams in the tournament will compete in these matches, which will follow a round-robin format. The winner of this stage will secure a spot in the main pool of 12 teams for the second round.
A total of 30 matches will be played in the second round. The 12 teams have been divided into two groups of six. Each team will play one match against every other team in its group. The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team across both groups, will advance to the next round. This next stage will be the Super-7, scheduled to begin on October 25. The seven qualifying teams will play one match against each other, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will feature matchups between the first and fourth-placed teams, and the second and third-placed teams. The winners of these matches will face each other in the final.

The ICC has also determined the seedings for the Super-7 stage. India has been assigned the A1 seed.
