₹9 Crore Flop Show: Fraser-McGurk's Golden Duck Exposes Delhi's Auction Blunder

Chennai: In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2025, Delhi Capitals had a very bad start against Chennai Super Kings. CSK fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed made Delhi's stormy opener batsman Jack Fraser McGurk his victim in his very first over with the new ball at the Chepauk Cricket Stadium. When McGurk was out, not a single run was added to the score board of Delhi Capitals. In this way, Khaleel Ahmed gave his team a great start.

In the 18th season of IPL, this match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals is being played at MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium. In this match, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel chose to bat first after winning the toss. Faf du Plessis was not fit for Delhi in the match, due to which he did not come on the field to open with McGurk. KL Rahul took over the responsibility of opening in this match with McGurk.

McGurk was retained for 9 crores

Let us tell you that Fraser McGurk was one of the select foreign players whom the franchise had decided to retain for IPL 2025. Delhi Capitals have retained Fraser McGurk by paying 9 crores, but his bat has not been able to work so far this season. In such a situation, it is being said that this 9 crore player is now costing Delhi Capitals.

This season, McGurk has been able to score only 39 runs in three matches for Delhi Capitals. In his first match of the season, he scored only 1 run against Lucknow Supergiants. After this, he contributed 38 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. And now he could not even open his account against Chennai.
