New Delhi: Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan has reacted to the India-England Test series. Sara also talked about the legacy of her grandfather and former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Actually, this five-match series between India and England was earlier named the Pataudi Trophy, but it has now been changed to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. At the same time, the captain of the team that wins in this series will get the Pataudi Medal of Excellence.
During a segment on Sony Sports Network, Sara said that she feels proud to see Pataudi's legacy being accepted. Sara said, 'I think it's always great. He was such a big personality. It just feels great to appreciate him, honour him, remember him. We all just feel proud.'
Questions raised on renaming of Pataudi Trophy
Farooq Engineer, a close friend of the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, said the ECB made a mistake in renaming the India-England Test Series Trophy and its decision to introduce the winning captain's medal after the family name of his former teammate was clearly an afterthought.
The ECB had renamed the Pataudi Trophy for the India-England series in 2007. Now the new name as Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has been criticised by many former cricketers including legends like Sunil Gavaskar. Farooq Engineer said about the Pataudi Trophy, 'Tiger Pataudi was a very good friend of mine. He was my great colleague. We played a lot of Test cricket. Great legacy, great family. I was very happy when the trophy was named after him in 2007.
