Played 32 Tests Less, Still Equaled! Bumrah One Step Away From Breaking Kapil Dev’s Record

Played 32 Tests Less, Still Equaled! Bumrah One Step Away From Breaking Kapil Dev’s Record

Leeds: Indian team's fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah is bowling brilliantly. He took 5 wickets in the first innings of the Leeds Test against England. On the second day of the match, he dismissed Jack Crowley, Ben Duckett and Joe Root. After this, many catches were missed on his bowling and Harry Brook was saved due to a no ball. Even after this, Bumrah took 5 wickets in the innings. He conceded 83 runs in 24.4 overs.

Bumrah's 12th 5 wicket haul away from home

Jasprit Bumrah has achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets in an innings of a Test match for the 14th time. He has done this feat 12 times outside the home. In 2018, Bumrah made his Test debut in South Africa. Apart from England, he has also taken 5 wickets in an innings in South Africa, West Indies and Australia. The best spell of his career has also come outside the home. This is the 34th Test of Bumrah's career abroad.

    Bumrah equals Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev is India's most successful fast bowler in Test history. He has achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets in Tests on foreign soil only 12 times. Jasprit Bumrah has equaled him. However, Kapil Dev played 66 Test matches abroad in his career. Ishant Sharma has taken 5 wickets 9 times in 63 Tests abroad and Zaheer Khan has taken 5 wickets 8 times in 54 Tests. Irfan Pathan has done this feat 7 times in just 15 matches.

Bumrah is breaking one record after another

If Jasprit Bumrah takes a 5 wicket haul in this series, he will become the Indian bowler to take the most 5 wickets on foreign soil. Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan and Australia's Shane Warne hold the record of taking 5 wickets in 5 innings abroad for the most number of times i.e. 22 each. Among active bowlers, Nathan Lyon is on top by doing this 15 times.
