    Shreyas Iyer smashed 85 runs off 41 balls in a practice match ahead of IPL 2025. Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh put up a fight, but Team A fell short in the chase.

    Punjab Kings' 'Lion' Roars Before IPL, But Shreyas Iyer Smashes Him in Style!

    Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant innings of 85 runs in 41 balls in the team's practice match for the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the new PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh. In the match held on Wednesday, Iyer's Team B scored a total of 205 runs in 20 overs. Iyer's stormy innings of 85 runs in 41 balls played an important role for Team B. For Team A, Shashank Singh took 2/38 wickets. In reply, Team A openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave their team a good start by scoring 72 runs in 31 balls and 66 runs in 42 balls respectively. Vishnu Vinod also played a quick innings of 26* runs in just 10 balls.


    Team A managed to score only 198 runs and lost the match by 7 runs. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh impressed and took two wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. Punjab Kings' campaign to win their first title will begin against Gujarat Titans on March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The team will then return to their home ground, New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh to play two home matches against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.


    Shreyas Iyer is the second most expensive player to be sold in IPL history


    Indian team's top order batsman Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for 26.75 crores in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He is the second most expensive player to be sold in IPL after Rishabh Pant. Iyer made KKR the champion under his captaincy last season. But before the mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders released Iyer.
