Rain Fear in IPL Matches Ends! BCCI Introduces New Rule to Ensure Full Game Play

New Delhi: The venue of the playoff and final match of IPL 2025 has been announced. Three teams have been decided for the playoffs. One of Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will become the fourth team to reach the playoffs. BCCI has also fully geared up for the knockout stage of IPL 2025. This season many big matches were affected due to rain, due to which its effect was also seen on the playoff equation, but now BCCI has issued a new rule regarding rain.

In fact, if the game is interrupted due to rain during the playoff matches, then a provision of extra time has been made for it. Actually, due to rain, one hour of extra time was given in the first match, but now it has been increased to 120 minutes i.e. 2 hours. In such a situation, now there is full hope that the rain affected match can be completed under any circumstances, but if the match does not start in the stipulated time, then the umpire and match referee will take a decision according to the situation.

Venue also changed due to rain match

BCCI has not only changed the extra time but also the venue keeping in mind the rain. In fact, in view of the monsoon, the BCCI has shifted the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad to be held in Bangalore on May 23 to Lucknow. The previous match was canceled here due to rain.

According to the changed venue, the final match of IPL will now be played in Ahmedabad. Apart from the final, Qualifier 2 will also be played in Ahmedabad, while Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches will be held in Mullanpur. Earlier these matches were to be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata. But, due to some reasons, they have been changed. BCCI has made this change keeping the weather in mind. In a statement issued by the board, it was said, 'The new venues for the playoffs have been decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping the weather and other things in mind.'
