Rinku Singh’s Late Fireworks Not Enough—Kolkata Falls Short by 4 Runs in IPL 2025 Thriller!

New Delhi: When 24 runs are needed to win in the last over and Rinku Singh (38 not out in 15 balls) is present at the crease, victory seems easy. But despite trying his best on Tuesday night in IPL 2025, Rinku Singh could not get Kolkata Knight Riders over Lucknow Supergiants. Lucknow defeated hosts Kolkata by a close margin of four runs in a breath-taking high-scoring thrilling match.

LSG won due to stormy innings of Pooran and Marsh

Batting first at Eden Gardens, Lucknow Supergiants scored 238 runs for three wickets on the back of stormy innings of Nicholas Pooran (87*) and Mitchell Marsh (81). In response, KKR, who won the toss and chose to bowl first, could only score 234 runs after losing seven wickets.

Andre Russell's wicket was the turning point of the match

Kolkata Knight Riders had a great start in response to the mountain target of 239 runs. Kolkata was dominating the match till the 15th over, but the equation got spoiled with the dismissal of Venkatesh Iyer in the 16th over and Andre Russell in the 17th over.

LSG had made its second highest score

For the Lucknow team, which was sent to bat first, in 40 degree Celsius temperature, openers Aiden Markram and Marsh made an opening partnership of 99 runs in 62 balls. Markram scored 47 runs in 28 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. At the same time, Marsh scored 81 runs in 48 balls, which included six fours and five sixes. Puran played an unbeaten innings of 87 runs in 36 balls with seven fours and eight sixes to take Lucknow to its second highest score in IPL.

KKR bowlers were also beaten badly

KKR bowlers did not get any help from the pitch. Varun, who gave only 16 runs in his first three overs, took one wicket for 47 runs in four overs while Johnson gave 46 runs in three overs. Sunil Narine also gave 33 runs in three overs and did not get any wicket. Vaibhav Arora gave 35 runs in four overs. Andre Russell was given the ball in the 16th over. He gave away 32 runs in two overs, in which 24 runs came in a single over.
