X removes 600 accounts, 3,500 posts after government flags obscene content

Following orders from the central government, X has taken major action against obscene content. The platform has deleted 600 accounts and more than 3500 posts. The government had objected to the objectionable content, after which X assured compliance with the rules and pledged not to allow such content.

Digital Desk, New Delhi: Following orders from the central government, X has taken action against several users. The social media platform X has deleted 600 accounts. X has also removed more than 3500 posts from its platform.

The central government had objected to the obscene content present on X, after which X took this step. X has assured the government that it will not allow the publication of obscene content on the platform and will comply with government regulations.

Central Government Had Issued a Warning

This action comes a week after the Union Ministry of Information Technology issued a warning against X. The central ministry accused Grok, X's AI chatbot, of "gross misuse" of AI and of creating and sharing images or videos of women in a "derogatory or obscene" manner, defaming them indecently.

The ministry had warned X that the company would face legal problems if it did not comply with the 72-hour deadline.

Allegations of Grok Creating Obscene Images

It is worth noting that Elon Musk's platform X's AI chatbot, Grok, is accused of creating obscene images of women and children. Governments around the world have expressed concern and criticized Grok over this. This list includes India, France, Brazil, Malaysia, and the European Union.

The non-profit group AI Forensics said it analyzed 20,000 images created by Grok between December 25 and January 1 and found that two percent depicted individuals under the age of 18 in bikinis or transparent clothing.
