26/11 Case: NIA Takes Voice, Handwriting Samples of Tahawwur Rana, Verdict Nears

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday took voice and handwriting samples of 26/11 Mumbai attack villain Tahawwur Hussain Rana. The voice sample was taken by a forensic expert at the NIA headquarters. While the handwriting sample was taken in front of the judge at the Patiala House Court. In this, Rana was made to write his name and address and numbers from A, B, C, D to Z and 1,2,3 to 10. 5 separate copies of this have been made.

NIA sources said that to take the voice sample, Rana was given a sample of his live voice, whose voice recording is submitted in the US court. For taking the sample, there were forensic experts with the NIA team, who took this sample of Rana. Sources said that even though Rana is not cooperating with the NIA in the investigation, he did not refuse while taking his samples. Initially, he definitely asked why all this, but later he agreed to give both his samples.

According to sources, Rana gave both his samples in English only. The reason for this is also being told that whatever recordings and handwritings of his related to the Mumbai attack are with the NIA. All of them are in English only. Now the investigating agency will match both these samples of Rana with his phone recordings and handwritings with them. With this, whatever evidence of the Mumbai attack that the NIA has, will be verified.

Will there also be a lie detector and polygraph test?

Sources say that in the coming time, Rana will also be subjected to lie detector and polygraph test. But nothing has been said to Rana for this yet. It is possible that these tests will be conducted only after he goes to Tihar Jail. Because after extending his remand by 18 days and then by 12 days, Rana's remand cannot be extended any further. He will now be sent to jail.
