New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation at the main event marking International Yoga Day, held on Sunday morning at Kolkata's Red Road. Addressing the nation, PM Modi remarked that the entire world and the country appear interconnected—a testament to the power of yoga. Yoga unites everyone.
Numerous ministers, chief ministers, and party workers participated in Yoga Day events across the country. Programs were also organized at various locations in the national capital, Delhi. On this occasion, senior leaders, ministers, officials, and ordinary citizens practiced yoga, conveying a message of health, fitness, and holistic well-being.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah performed yoga in Gujarat.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Sunday that yoga is India's invaluable gift to humanity, fostering holistic well-being. Shah made these remarks while practicing yoga at an event held in Ahmedabad to mark International Yoga Day. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in the state-level yoga event held in the town of Mansa, in Gandhinagar district.
On Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh posted on the social media platform 'X': "Heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Yoga is not merely the foundation of a healthy body but a path to living a balanced and disciplined life. Thanks to the sustained efforts and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this cultural heritage of India has today transformed into a global mass movement."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh also performed yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Meanwhile, Union Health Minister JP Nadda participated in a special event held at the Shanti Path lawns and practiced yoga.
On this occasion, JP Nadda extended his best wishes to all citizens for the 12th International Yoga Day. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accomplished the historic task of taking India's ancient yoga tradition to the global stage. He highlighted the importance and contribution of yoga to the world and took significant steps to popularize it globally.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Also Performs Yoga
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also performed yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day. He encouraged people to adopt yoga, conveying a message that promotes health, well-being, and a holistic lifestyle. People also enthusiastically practiced yoga at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Punjabi Bagh, Delhi. Meanwhile, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in a yoga session and encouraged people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Performs Yoga
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta participated in a yoga program organized for International Yoga Day. He spoke about promoting health, mental peace, and a better lifestyle through yoga. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh practiced yoga by participating in a program held at the office of the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).
On the other hand, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra participated in the Yoga Day celebrations held at the Yamuna Sports Complex in the Shahdara district. Delhi BJP General Secretary Pawan Rana participated in a yoga program held at a park on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg.
CM Yogi Performs Yoga at Jhansi Fort Grounds
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in a state-level yoga program held at the Jhansi Fort grounds and practiced yoga alongside thousands of people. On this occasion, he stated that the credit for gaining global recognition for India's ancient yoga tradition goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that by showcasing India's cultural heritage on the global stage, the Prime Minister has shown 1.4 billion Indians the path to move forward with pride and realize the dream of a developed India.
In Muzaffarpur, Union Minister Giriraj Singh noted that after taking the oath as the country's 'Pradhan Sevak' (Prime Servant) in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the observance of International Yoga Day in September of that same year. This proposal garnered support from 177 countries, and today, Yoga Day is celebrated on a grand scale across India and the entire world.
