Victoria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Seychelles' highest honor, the 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon', in recognition of his leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development. President Patrick Herminie presented this honor to him on Sunday. The 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' award acknowledges Prime Minister Modi's long-standing policy and vision, which emphasize sustainable development, green growth, and eco-friendly policies.
Recognition of PM Modi's 'Green Vision'
This title is the latest in a series of global recognitions bestowed upon Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development and a green economy. Last month, in May 2026, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) awarded him the Agricola Medal for strengthening the agricultural sector, enhancing food security, and encouraging sustainable agriculture.
This honor from Seychelles is viewed as further validation of Prime Minister Modi's global environmental leadership and his "Green Vision." The Indian Prime Minister arrived in Seychelles on Saturday for a three-day official visit, where he was accorded a ceremonial welcome by President Herminie.
Bilateral talks with the President of Seychelles
On Sunday, the Prime Minister was accorded a Guard of Honour at State House. This was followed by bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Patrick Herminie. The two leaders deliberated on issues of mutual interest at both regional and international levels. External Affairs Minister S. PM Modi will attend an event organized by the Indian community and address the National Assembly of Seychelles. With this, he will become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the parliaments or national assemblies of 20 countries.
PM Modi himself shared this information before departing for Seychelles. Writing on X, he stated, "I will have the honor of becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles. This historic occasion symbolizes the strong democratic values and parliamentary traditions that bind our two nations together."
