405 Days, 10 Countries, and a ₹41 Lakh Nightmare—A Journey That Ended in Ruin

Airport News: Such was the passion to reach the destination that he crossed the borders of 10 countries while walking continuously. This person spent a total of 41 lakh rupees to fulfill his dream. But, little did he know that as soon as he set foot on the destination, his luck would run out and something would happen, which he would not have imagined even in his dreams. Not only this, his money and dream would all sink in one stroke.

Yes, this is the story of 20-year-old Maninder Pal Singh, who lives in Patti Malasian, Jalandhar (Punjab). Maninder Pal Singh also had a dream to go to America and start a new life there. To make his dream come true, Maninder started his journey in October 2023. First he reached Kazakhstan from Delhi. After staying in Kazakhstan for a few days, he left for Dubai.

From Dubai he was sent to Libya and then from Libya he reached Senegal. After this, he managed to reach Mexico via Libya, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala. It took Maninder about 13 months to cross the borders of these countries. Maninder's journey to America, which started in October 2023, ended after about a year in November 2024 by reaching America via Mexico.

As soon as he reached America, Maninder, as per the instructions of his agent, tore all the pages from his passport which had fake visas of different countries. After this, Maninder's bad luck led him to US security agencies. After which, the US security agency arrested Maninder and sent him to a detention center. After keeping him in the detention center for about two months, he was deported to Delhi's IGI Airport.

According to IGI Airport DCP Usha Rangnani, the accused Maninder Pal Singh deported from America has been arrested under Section 318(4)/319(2)/336(3)/340(2)/238(C) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the Passport Act. A team was formed under the leadership of SHO Sunil Goyal to investigate the case. On the information given by Maninder, another accused named Amit Arora has also been arrested from Punjab.
