Ashwin Backs Rathi in Mankading Controversy, Slams Pant's Public Outburst

New Delhi: In modern day cricket, when a bowler does Mankading, India's Ravichandran Ashwin is definitely discussed. Ashwin considers Mankading run out to be completely correct according to the rules. Ashwin has always supported the bowlers on Mankading run out. He has also been criticized many times for this, but Ashwin has always silenced everyone with his logic. In such a situation, Ashwin has now reacted to the Mankading controversy of Lucknow Supergiants spinner Digvesh Rathi in IPL 2025 and also expressed his displeasure over the team captain Rishabh Pant.

Ashwin has expressed displeasure over Rishabh Pant publicly humiliating Digvesh Rathi. Actually, Digvesh Rathi tried to run out batsman Jitesh Sharma at the non-striker end in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025, but the third umpire did not consider it right and Pant withdrew the appeal, on which Ashwin has criticized Pant and the commentators. Ashwin supported Rathi and said that the job of a captain is to support the bowler and not make him feel small.

Ravichandran Ashwin is not happy with Ashwin's decision

Let us tell you that Ravichandran Ashwin had to face a lot of criticism after the Mankading run out controversy of Jos Buttler in IPL 2019, but he has defended Digvesh Rathi. Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, 'I am a big fan of Pant. I am making it clear again before people target me. But imagine, you are Rathi's father and his captain criticized him in front of crores of people. He really crossed the line. The job of a captain is to support the bowler and not make him feel small.'

He said, 'Pant is a brilliant cricketer. He scored a brilliant century and I know he will do very well in cricket. I am waiting for the England series for him to see how he will bat and help India win.'
