India Bangladesh Relations: Relations between India and Bangladesh are continuously deteriorating. The head of the neighboring country, Mohammad Yunus, is constantly taking anti-India steps. Minorities are constantly being attacked in the neighboring country. Meanwhile, Yunus has done such an act in the border area adjoining India, which can further deteriorate the relations between the two countries. He has broken an agreement between the founder of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the late Indira Gandhi, who was the PM of the country at that time.
In fact, reports have come that Bangladesh is building a dam near the Muhuri river in southern Tripura. The construction of this dam can pose a threat to the security of the Indian territory. Also, this will increase the possibility of floods in the Indian area. Local people are worried about this action of Bangladesh. Local MLA Dipankar Sen has raised this issue and has asked the Union Home Ministry to intervene immediately. This dam is 1.5 km long and 20 feet high. The Times of India newspaper has published a report about this.
Mujib Rahmana-Indira Agreement
Sen said that at the time of the establishment of Bangladesh, an agreement was signed between Mujib Rahman and Indira Gandhi. According to this agreement, no construction work can be done within 150 yards of the zero line on the border. But, Bangladesh is building this new dam at a distance of just 50 yards from the zero line. At many places it is just 10 yards from the zero line. He said that earlier many water projects were stopped in Tripura. Because there was an Indira-Mujib agreement between India and Bangladesh. But, this time Bangladesh is deliberately building this dam.
CM office sought report
The newspaper quoted officials of the Chief Minister's Office of Tripura as saying that a report is being awaited in this regard. This matter has come to light. There is no need to worry for now. South Tripura Police Commissioner C. Sen said that Bangladesh is working fast on this project. According to the report, more than 500 families live in Netaji Subhash Chandra Nagar, the place where Bangladesh is building the dam. Experts say that the construction of this dam will create the problem of floods in the area during the rainy season. The flow of water will stop due to the dam and water will accumulate in the area. Last January also, Bangladesh was building a similar dam in another area. CM Manik Saha expressed concern about this. But when Bangladesh did not agree, then India also started the work of building a higher dam in the same area than Bangladesh.
