Bumrah Likely to Miss Champions Trophy: Back Injury Recovery Uncertain, Harshit Set to Replace Him?

A BCCI source told Dainik Bhaskar that it seems difficult for Bumrah to recover from his back injury till the Champions Trophy. He will not be able to play a single match of the ODI series against England.

If he is not fit, Harshit Rana can be included in the squad in his place.

Bumrah was included in the team for the last ODI match against England. This match will be played on February 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Bumrah reached Bengaluru on Monday to get his back injury checked. He will be under the supervision of the medical team at the BCCI Center of Excellence for 2-3 days. Work is going on on Bumrah's fitness, if he gets fit on time, he will remain in the team.

The ICC has set a deadline of February 11 for changes in the squad. India's first match in the Champions Trophy will be played against Bangladesh on February 20.

Bumrah is included in the Champions Trophy team.

India's selection committee announced the Indian team for the Champions Trophy on January 18. Jasprit Bumrah, who was injured on the Australia tour, was also included in the team. The selection committee had kept Arshdeep Singh as Bumrah's backup.

Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament in T20 World Cup 2024

Bumrah returned from injury in the 2023 Asia Cup. He was part of the Indian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2023 and the T20 World Cup in 2024. He took a total of 15 wickets in 8 matches of the tournament in the T20 World Cup. In the final too, he took important wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Marco Jansen.
