China’s FM Wang Yi to Visit India, Set to Meet PM Modi – Direct Message to America

New Delhi: Amid Trump's rhetoric and tariffs imposed against India, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi is coming on a visit to India tomorrow. Wang Yi's visit to India is being considered a direct message to America. Amidst the continuous anti-India statements coming from America, the Modi government is also now in the mood to give a strong message.

According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is coming to India on a three-day visit on Monday. The biggest thing is that during this visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister, he is also going to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Wang Yi's meeting with PM Modi has been scheduled for 5:30 pm on August 19 (Tuesday). This meeting is to be held at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Will also meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

As per the schedule, Wang Yi will arrive at Delhi's IGI airport at 4:15 pm on Monday, after which he will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House. On Tuesday, he will attend the 24th meeting between special representatives on the India-China border question. Wang Yi will leave for China at 9 am on Wednesday. His visit is an important development in the ongoing military and diplomatic talks between the two countries after the 2020 standoff in eastern Ladakh. It was only after this incident that tensions between the two countries escalated and bilateral relations deteriorated.

Can be beneficial for improving relations

Wang Yi is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and China's special representative on the border issue. He can also hold discussions with his counterpart in the special representative mechanism, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Wang's upcoming visit is being closely watched by observers in both countries as it could signal a possible improvement in relations and help lay the ground for broader cooperation.

Flights between the two countries may resume soon

Last year, when Prime Minister Modi held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, India and China partially agreed to ease the standoff in Ladakh. Earlier this year, China resumed the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra while India once again began issuing visas to Chinese tourists. India and China are reportedly preparing to resume direct flights in early September. An announcement is expected during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin in late August.
