    CRPF Jawan Opens Fire in Manipur Camp: 2 Killed, 8 Injured in Shocking Incident

    Manipur News: A jawan suddenly opened indiscriminate fire on his colleagues at 8:20 pm on Thursday night at CRPF Camp (Lamphel) located in Imphal West district of Manipur.

    CRPF Jawan Opens Fire in Manipur Camp: 2 Killed, 8 Injured in Shocking Incident

    Manipur News: A jawan suddenly opened an indiscriminate fire on his colleagues at 8:20 pm on Thursday at CRPF Camp (Lamphel) located in the Imphal West district of Manipur. In this incident, two jawans died on the spot, and eight others were injured. It is being told that Havildar Sanjay Kumar killed a constable and a sub-inspector on the spot by firing from his rifle. After this, she also shot himself, due to which he also died.


    All the injured have been admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal. Investigation into the cause of the incident is underway. There has been no official statement from the CRPF. The incident took place in the 120th battalion of CRPF, and an internal investigation has been started to find out the reasons behind it.


    President's rule imposed in the state


    On the other hand, the President's rule has been imposed in Manipur. Four days ago, on February 9, Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned from his post. The assembly has also been suspended. Announcing the central rule, the Home Ministry has issued a notification. It said that President Draupadi Murmu thinks that 'a situation has arisen in the state due to which the government of that state cannot function according to the provisions of the Constitution.'


    221 people died in Manipur violence


    Ethnic violence has been going on in Manipur for about 21 months. So far, 221 people have died in this violence,e and thousands have been displaced. N. Biren Singh had to face a lot of criticism amid allegations of failing to deal with this ethnic conflict in the state. At present, the central government is keeping an eye on the current situation in Manipur. (With language input)
