Delhi Police file FIR against Khalistani leader Pannu over video threat

New Delhi: An FIR has been registered in Delhi against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a Khalistan-backed terrorist and head of the organization Sikhs for Justice. Pannu has been booked for allegedly attempting to spread unrest in Delhi before Republic Day (January 26). Pannu had released a video on social media claiming that he had put up pro-Khalistan posters in the Rohini and Dabri areas of Delhi through his sleeper cells. However, the Special Cell has not yet found any such posters.

It is worth noting that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had released a video threatening to cause widespread disruption in India before Republic Day. He claimed that pro-Khalistani people had put up posters in Rohini and Dabri in the national capital, after which the Special Cell investigated the matter and clarified that Pannu's claim was completely false. Following this incident, the Delhi Police has now registered a complaint against Pannu.

    Declared a terrorist under UAPA

Since July 1, 2020, the Government of India has declared Gurpatwant Singh Pannu a terrorist under the amended UAPA law. In July 2020, the Punjab Police had registered a sedition case against him in Amritsar and Kapurthala. Pannu had earlier announced on his YouTube channel that the Khalistani flag would be hoisted at all SP and DC offices from Gurugram to Ambala in Haryana. Following this, a sedition case was registered against him in Gurugram.

Pannu hails from this district of Punjab

Gurpatwant Singh Pannu was born in Khanakot village of Amritsar. He later went abroad and is now trying to revive the Khalistani separatist movement in Punjab with the help of the ISI.
