Brussels: The double-facedness of the European Union has once again come to the fore. On the one hand, it is constantly adopting an aggressive stance against Russia for the ongoing war in Ukraine. Not only this, it is also helping Ukraine by giving it weapons. At the same time, after the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Europe has given peace lessons to India. Vice President of the European Union and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas has advised India to hold talks with Pakistan. After this comment of the European Union, the statement given by India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar two years ago has again gone viral, in which he showed the mirror of Europe.
EU representative spoke to Jaishankar
Kaja Kallas, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, spoke to India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar on Thursday. Kallas wrote on the social media platform X, "The growing tension between India and Pakistan is worrying. I urge both sides to exercise restraint and hold talks to improve the situation. Increasing tensions do not benefit anyone. I spoke to Dr. Jaishankar and Ishaq Dar today and gave these messages."
Jaishankar had shown the mirror to Europe
At a time when the European Union should hold Pakistan responsible and pressurize it to take action against terrorists, it is giving peace lessons to India. Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar had shown Europe its true face two years ago. At a conference in Slovakia in June 2022, Jaishankar had said that 'Europe has to get out of the mindset that its problems are the problems of the whole world, but the problem of the world is not the problem of Europe.'
In fact, at that time, efforts were being made to pressure India to oppose Russia in the Ukraine war, but India refused. Jaishankar rejected Europe's view that due to India's stand on Ukraine, it may face difficulty in getting global support if the problem with China increases.
Gave a tough answer on China
On the question related to China, Jaishankar had said that today a link is being made in this regard. Relations are being made between China and India and the developments in Ukraine. He said that whatever has happened between China and India happened much before Ukraine. Jaishankar said that our relations with China are uneasy and we are fully capable of managing them. If there is global support in this regard, then it will naturally help. But the idea that I should get involved in one conflict because it will help me in another conflict... the world does not work like this.
