Riyadh: The Haj Ministry of Saudi Arabia has decided to reopen the Haj (Nusuk) portal for 10,000 pilgrims. This decision has been taken in view of the availability of space in Mina (city near Mecca). Giving this information, the Ministry of Minority Affairs of the Government of India has asked CHGOs (Combined Haj Group Operators) to complete their process without delay. Haj will take place in the month of June this year. For this, Haj pilgrims will start going to Saudi from May itself.
26 CHGOs failed to meet Saudi Arabia's deadline to complete the Haj process. Due to this, they were not able to complete the necessary contracts for camps, hotels and transport in Mina. On this, the Government of India contacted the Saudi Haj Ministry. After the intervention of the Government of India, the Saudi Haj Ministry has agreed to reopen the portal.
The dream of 10 thousand passengers will be fulfilled
India's Minority Ministry said that some CHGOs could not meet Saudi Arabia's deadline, due to which the Haj quota remained unfilled. To complete this remaining quota, Saudi Arabia has now reopened the portal for 10,000 pilgrims. According to the Haj Policy 2025 of the Government of India, out of the total quota of Haj pilgrims allotted to the country, 70% is managed by the Haj Committee of India. The remaining 30% are given to private Haj group organizers. The ministry said that Saudi Arabia has given India a quota of 1,75,025 (1.75 lakh) for 2025.
Last week, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs Chandra Shekhar Kumar and Joint Secretary CPS Bakshi visited Jeddah last week to review the preparations for Haj for Indian pilgrims. Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also visited Saudi Arabia in January this year. During this time he signed a bilateral agreement for Haj-2025. Let us tell you that this year Haj will be held between June 4 and June 9, 2025. However, the final date will depend on the sighting of the moon of Zilhaj, the last month of the Islamic calendar.
