Honeymoon Horror: Was Raja Raghuvanshi Killed for Sonam’s Lover Raj Kushwaha?

New Delhi: The story of Indore couple Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, who went to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, has now completely changed. After Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found, Sonam has now been arrested for his murder. Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, UP on Monday morning. Along with Sonam, three more people have also been arrested in the case of Raja Raghuvanshi's murder. According to the police, Sonam hired a contract killer to kill her husband Raja Raghuvanshi. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma himself gave this information by tweeting.

Meghalaya DGP Idashisha Nongrang said that Sonam had hired a contract killer to kill her husband. One of the accused has been arrested from UP. Two accused have been arrested by SIT from Indore. The arrested accused have given names of some more people. Earlier, Sonam surrendered at Nandganj police station in UP and was later arrested.

At the same time, a new twist came in the case when a name emerged after Sonam's arrest. According to the report of 'Aaj Tak', this name is Raj Kushwaha. It is being told that before marriage, Sonam was having an affair with a man named Raj Kushwaha. In such a situation, it is being speculated that for this affair, Sonam hired a contract killer to kill Raja Raghuvanshi.

How honeymoon turned into a murder case

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam got married last month on 11 May. 9 days after the wedding, both reached Guwahati via Bengaluru for their honeymoon and visited Maa Kamakhya Devi. From here Raja and Sonam left for Meghalaya to celebrate their honeymoon. After reaching Meghalaya, both went to Shillong and rented a scooty. They last spoke to the family on 22 May and after that both disappeared.

When the family could not contact Raja and Sonam, a missing person complaint was lodged with the Meghalaya police and the search for both began. 11 days later, Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a ditch. A woodcutter was also found near the body. Raja's purse, watch, gold chain, ring and diamond bracelet were missing. Apart from these, a ladies' white shirt was also found near Raja's body.

The entire story changed

Initially it was believed that Raja and Sonam were robbed. The killers must have attacked them with the intention of loot. After Raja's murder, the search for Sonam intensified. A massive search operation was launched involving police, SDRF, NDRF, SOT and drones. NDRF personnel were dropped in the trench and every inch was searched.

However, on Monday, when the news of Sonam's surrender came, the story changed completely. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted, 'Within seven days, Meghalaya Police has achieved a major success in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. 3 attackers have been arrested and the woman has surrendered. The operation is still on to nab another attacker.'
