How IAF Dodged Pakistan’s Air Defences and Hit Targets in Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force (IAF) destroyed military bases in the neighboring country by bypassing Pakistan's defense system provided by China. The government gave detailed information about the Air Force operation on Wednesday. The government also confirmed that Pakistan thwarted attacks on Indian cities and military sites with Chinese and Turkish origin weapon systems. This included PL-15 missiles and Bayraktar-style drones. The special thing was that all of these were successfully neutralized through Made-in-India Defense Technology.

The government said that Operation Sindoor not only underlined the precision of India's military action but also its technological self-reliance. It is a milestone in the country's defense doctrine. The statement said that Operation Sindoor emerged as a balanced military response to the emerging pattern of asymmetric warfare ... India's response was deliberate, precise and strategic.

How was the air defense system defeated?

Bypassing the defense system supplied by China, Indian fighter planes and hovering weapons attacked key Pakistani military sites including Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan airbases using indigenous platforms. According to the government, these attacks were completed in just 23 minutes.

All attacks were carried out without crossing the Line of Control or the International Border. Also, there was no loss of any Indian property. Meanwhile, India's multi-level air defense successfully thwarted Pakistani attacks using a mix of traditional and modern indigenous systems.

  • The Akash missile system performed 'superbly' in neutralizing several air threats.

  • Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) systems destroyed the Turkish-origin drone.

  • India-developed Arudhra and Ashwini radars, used for tracking and interception.

  • Netra AEW&C systems, to provide 360-degree surveillance, used for the first time in the operation

Chinese missiles, Turkish drones recovered

  • The government has confirmed that debris of various foreign weapon systems used by Pakistan has been recovered, including:

  • Chinese-origin PL-15 air-to-air missiles

  • Turkish-origin UAV called 'Yiha'

Long-range rockets and quadcopters

These were used in cross-border attacks by Pakistan targeting Indian military installations between May 7 and May 10. The statement said that despite Pakistan's efforts to take advantage of foreign-supplied advanced weapons, India's indigenous air defence and electronic warfare network remains robust.
