₹10 Trillion in Freebies! Supreme Court Steps In, Warns Against Rising Unemployment

Do you know how much money governments spend on 'freebies' or freebies in the country? You will be stunned to know. According to an estimate, Central and state governments together distribute more than 100000000000000 for free. Now, the Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over this. Supreme Court said the practice of distributing 'freebies' to win elections is making people unemployed. They do not want to work because they get free ration and money. Are we not creating a class of parasites with such schemes?

Justice BR Gavai said, unfortunately, people have started avoiding work because of the things available for free. They are getting fa ree ration. They are getting money without doing any work, so why would they want to work? It would have been better if they were made a part of the mainstream and allowed to contribute to the development of the country. A bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih was hearing a petition related to the right to shelter for homeless people.

A lot of promises were made in the Delhi elections.

The harsh comments of the Supreme Court have come after the Delhi Assembly elections, in which BJP, Aam Aadmi Party, and Congress made several announcements one after the other to come to power. In this, the promise of waiving electricity and water bills, 2100-2500 rupees per month to women, free bus travel for students and women, and thousands of rupees in the name of pension to all sections were made. Similar announcements were also made during the elections of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Karna,t aka, and Maharashtra.

    What is free where?

    • About 2 lakh crore rupees are being spent on free ration.

    • Seventy-five thousand crore rupees are being given through PM Kisan Yojana.

    • More than one lakh crore is being spent on free electricity and water across the country.

    • More than 20 thousand crores are being looted in the name of free bus rides.

    • Up to three lakh crores are being spent on women in the name of various schemes.
