IPL 2025: Smran Ravichandran Joins Sunrisers Hyderabad as Zampa Ruled Out Due to Injury

New Delhi. After suffering 4 consecutive defeats in the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got their first win. The team, which returned to the winning track, has suffered a major setback. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. The franchise has included Karnataka's talented batsman Smran Ravichandran in his place.

IPL Hyderabad announced the changes in their team in a social media post on Monday (April 14). The team said that Zampa is 'injured' but did not give information about how he got injured and how serious it is. Ravichandran can bowl a bit, but he is primarily a top-order batsman who is adept at changing gears according to the match.

IPL said in a statement, "Smaran Ravichandran has played 7 first-class matches, 10 List A matches and 6 T20 matches and has scored over 1100 runs in these matches. The left-handed batsman plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket. The player has joined SRH for Rs 30 lakh." Ravichandran remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction but his performance after that would have made many franchises regret their decision. He scored a match-winning century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final for Karnataka and more centuries in the Ranji Trophy. After these performances, he represented Gulbarga Mystics in the Maharaja Trophy, scoring 302 runs at an average of 43.14 and a strike rate of 145.19.

According to reports, he was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pre-season nets and was impressing the coaches. It might be difficult for him to get an immediate chance given SRH's strong batting line-up, but if given the opportunity, he can certainly emerge as a star.
