IPL Playoffs: How Delhi Capitals can still qualify – 4 key points to understand

New Delhi: To win the playoff race in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals will now have to win both their remaining matches. If Delhi Capitals is not successful in winning, then their exit from the tournament is almost certain. Delhi Capitals suffered a crushing defeat by 10 wickets in the league match played against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. After which the challenge of making it to the top-4 has increased in front of them. The top-4 teams will advance to the playoffs in IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans have already confirmed their place in the playoffs with 18 points in 12 matches this season. RCB and Punjab Kings along with GT have made it to the playoffs with 17-17 points in 12 matches.

3 teams contenders for the last place

Now three teams are going to try their luck for one more place. For this, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are in line. Cricket fans of Lucknow Super Giants hope that their team will qualify for the playoff race by performing brilliantly in the remaining matches.

The tournament has become a knockout for Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals has played 12 matches so far in IPL, in which it won six matches and lost 5 matches. It is at the 5th position in the points table with 13 points. If Delhi wins both its matches, then it will have 17 points.

Mumbai Indians will have to do this to reach the top-4

Mumbai Indians, who are at the fourth position in the points table, have played 12 matches so far, in which they have 14 points with 7 wins. Mumbai Indians still have to play two matches. If Mumbai wins both the matches, then it can break the playoff dreams of Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. If Delhi Capitals wins, then its chances will increase.

The road is a bit difficult for Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants, who are relying on luck in the playoff race, still have to play three more matches in the tournament. If Lucknow wins all three of its matches, then it will have 16 points. But, given the kind of form Lucknow Super Giants has been in in the tournament, this task seems a bit difficult. At the same time, wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel believes that if DC wins its remaining league matches, then they can still make it to the playoffs.
