IPL Set to Return: 16 Matches Likely in Three Cities Pending Govt Approval

New Delhi: A big news has come out regarding IPL 2025 in India. The BCCI had stopped the tournament midway due to some reasons. Now if there is talk of starting it again, then cities like Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad can be chosen to host the matches. There are still 16 matches left in the IPL. It is reported that the BCCI is thinking of restarting the tournament by talking to the government.

A few days ago, tensions between India and Pakistan increased. Due to this, the BCCI stopped the IPL for a week. It is also not clear that if the IPL is to be resumed in May, then by when will the BCCI take a decision on this. However, the BCCI has decided to keep three cities ready. But BCCI officials say that it is difficult to start the IPL early in the current environment.

According to the Cricinfo report, the teams have also been told about this. Many team people say that the remaining matches can be played at the end of the year. A major problem in resuming the IPL in May is to bring back foreign players. As soon as the IPL stopped, the teams dispersed. The players started leaving for their respective countries. It is expected that most of the foreign players will leave India by Saturday.

The teams hope that if the IPL resumes in May, most of the foreign players will return. But they say that if this tournament happens after May 25, there is no guarantee. The final of IPL 2025 was to be held in Kolkata on May 25. After this many players have to play for other countries. Also, the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) between Australia and South Africa is also to be played at Lord's from June 11.

A total of 57 matches have been played in IPL 2025. On May 8, the 58th match was going on between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala. But it was stopped after 10.1 overs. The IPL has not yet decided whether that match will be played again or not. There are still 12 league matches and four playoff matches left.

Earlier the first qualifier and eliminator matches were to be held in Hyderabad. At the same time, the second qualifier and final matches were to be held in Kolkata. There are many difficulties in front of the BCCI. The biggest difficulty is to bring back foreign players. Many players have matches with other countries. There is also the final of WTC. In such a situation, it has to be seen when and where the remaining matches of IPL are played.
