    Mahashivratri 2025: Complete Guide to Worship, Auspicious Timings, and Significance of Bholenath’s Day

    Mahashivratri 2025: The fast of Mahashivratri is observed on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on this day. It is said that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on this day, so in some places there is a tradition of taking out a procession for the marriage of Mahadev. Every place worships differently on this day, but worshiping in the auspicious time has special significance in every place. It is believed that all the problems going on in the life of those who worship with full rituals in the auspicious time on the day of Shivaratri are removed. At the same time, obstacles coming in marriage are removed. Apart from this, success is achieved in all works with the grace of Lord Shiva.


    Auspicious time of Mahashivaratri Puja | Mahashivratri 2025 Shubh Muhurat

    There is special significance of worshiping in Nishita Kaal on the day of Mahashivratri. According to the Panchang, on this day Nishita Kaal will be from 12:09 pm to 12:59 pm on the night of 26 February. During this time, devotees will get only 50 minutes for worship. Apart from this, Ratri Jagran has special significance on the day of Mahashivratri and worshiping four prahars in the night is also very auspicious, whose auspicious time is as follows-


    Ratri Pratham Prahar Puja time will be from 06:19 pm to 09:26 pm.


    The second prahar puja time of the night will be from 09:26 to 12:34 am on February 27.

    The third prahar puja time of the night will be from 12:34 am to 03:41 am on February 27.

    The fourth prahar puja time of the night will be from 03:41 am to 06:48 am on February 27.


    Mahashivratri Puja Samagri

    The necessary materials for the worship of Mahashivratri should be collected in advance. Which is as follows- Dhoop, Deep, Akshat, White, Ghee, Bel, Bhang, Plum, Raw Cow Milk, Sugarcane Juice, Ganga Jal, Camphor, Malayagiri, Sandalwood, Panch Mitthan, Makeup Material of Shiva and Mother Parvati, Panch Mewa, Sugar, Honey, Mango Manjari, Barley Earrings, Cloth Ornaments, Sandalwood, Paan, Betel Nut, Clove, Cardamom, Curd, Fruit, Flower, Belpatra, Dhatura, Tulsi Dal, Mauli Janeu, Panch Rasa, Perfume, Gandh Roli, Kushasan etc.


    Mahashivratri Puja Vidhi | Mahashivratri 2025 Puja Vidhi

    To observe fast and worship Mahadev on the day of Mahashivratri, wake up in the Brahma Muhurta in the morning and take a bath. After that take a vow to fast. Go to a temple near the house and worship the entire Shiva family along with Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati with Shotshopchar Puja. First of all, offer water, Belpatra, Bhang, Dhatura, Sandalwood etc. on Shivling. Chant the mantras of Lord Shiva. Recite the Vrat Katha and finally perform the Aarti and complete the puja. If you want to perform puja at home, then clean the place of puja. After that worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati with full rituals. On this day, night vigil and worship has special significance, hence before night worship one must take bath and then again worship Mahadev as per the rituals.

    Om vertical earth burst. Om Namah Shivay. Om Hreem Hraun Namah Shivay. Om Namo Bhagwate Dakshinamurttaye Mahayam Medha Prayachch Swaha. ॐ इं क्षं मा औं अं. Om Praun Hreem Thah. Om Namo Neelkanthaya. Om Parvatipataye Namah. Om Pashupataye Namah.


    Chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra


    Om Trimbakam Yajamahe Sugandhi Pushtivardhanam. Urvarukamiv Bandhananmrityormukshiya Maaamritat||


    Maha Shivratri 2025 Parana Time

    The auspicious time for Parana of Mahashivratri fast will be from 6.48 am to 8.534 am on Thursday, 27th February. Devotees observing fast during this period can break the fast after worshiping Lord Bholenath.

    The fast of Mahashivratri is considered very effective. On this day there is a tradition of special worship of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. According to religious belief, the person who worships Mahadev and observes fast on this day. He gets freedom from all the troubles of life. Apart from this, any unmarried girl who observes fast and worships on Shivaratri, gets the opportunity to get married soon and gets the desired groom.
