MI’s Losing Streak in IPL Openers Continues! CSK Wins El Clasico Yet Again!

Chennai: Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in IPL. Mumbai Indians hold the record for winning the most matches in the league. The team also has the highest number of 5 titles along with Chennai Super Kings. But the streak of losing in the first match of the season, which started in 2013, is not coming to an end. Mumbai Indians have lost their first match in IPL 2025 as well. Mumbai lost by 4 wickets against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Mumbai has lost its first match for the 13th consecutive season.

    Khaleel and Noor Ahmed shine

Afghanistan's 'mystery' spinner Noor Ahmed took four wickets for 18 runs. Due to this, Mumbai Indians team, after losing the toss, could score only 155 runs for nine wickets while playing first. Apart from Noor Ahmed, Khaleel Ahmed took three wickets for 29 runs. Chennai achieved the target by losing 6 wickets in the 19th over. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad as well as Rachin Ravindra scored fifties for the team.

Mumbai Indians Tilak Verma was the top scorer with 31 runs. For him, captain Suryakumar Yadav could contribute only 29 runs. In the end, Deepak Chahar helped the team reach this score by scoring an unbeaten 28 runs in 15 balls.

While Noor Ahmed destroyed the middle order of Mumbai Indians, Khaleel Ahmed sent openers Rohit Sharma (zero) and Ryan Rickelton (13 runs in seven balls) to the pavilion in the powerplay. R Ashwin, who was returning to CSK after 10 years, took a wicket in his first over itself to reduce the score to 36 for three when Will Jacks gave an easy catch to Dubey at mid-off on his ball.
