New Delhi: IPL 2025 is over. This season the Royal Challengers Bangalore team won the title. RCB has won the IPL after 18 years. Like RCB, this season Delhi Capitals also had a great chance to win their first IPL title, but they could not take advantage of this opportunity. Delhi Capitals had started this series very well during the league stage, but by the end of the league stage, they could not even finish in the top 4. The reason behind this is believed to be a bowler like Mitchell Starc by the fans.
Starc did not return to India after the break
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc had decided to leave India in the middle of the IPL. He said that he is with his team Delhi Capitals, but did not return due to security reasons. The league had to be stopped for 10 days after the terrorist attack in India. Starc told that he took this decision keeping in mind the safety of himself and his family. He is now preparing for Test cricket in England.
Mitchell Starc has explained in detail why he decided to leave the tournament in the middle of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that even if there is any result of his decision, he is completely dedicated to Delhi Capitals. Actually, after a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army took action against the terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. Due to this the IPL had to be stopped for 10 days.
Played an important innings for the Delhi Capitals team
When the league resumed on 17 May, Starc, unlike many of his Australian teammates, decided not to return to India. Starc was an important part of the Delhi Capitals bowling. He took 14 wickets in 11 matches. On May 8, during the match against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, the lights of the stadium had to be turned off, due to which the game had to be stopped. Starc's wife and Australian women's team captain Alyssa Healy was also present in the stadium at that time. The stadium was immediately evacuated as Dharamsala is near the international border.
What did Starc say?
35-year-old Starc said that he was doubtful about playing the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in view of the atmosphere. Talking to 'The Age' newspaper, he said, "I am comfortable with my decision and this whole situation. I am satisfied with what I felt and the way I handled it."
He further said, "That's why I took my decision later. My focus was on preparing for Test cricket for about a week before coming to England." Starc also said that time will tell what will be the result of his decision. Also, it will be known what will happen to the players who did not return. He said that he had some questions and concerns before the match. "Obviously we saw what happened. That incident played a major role in my decision," Stark said.
