MS Dhoni Returns as CSK Captain Mid-Season After Ruturaj Gaikwad Injury Blow

The team's regular captain Rituraj Gaikwad is out of the entire season due to an elbow injury. In such a situation, now veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni will captain the team. There was doubt about Rituraj Gaikwad in the match against Punjab Kings that he would not be able to play, but at the last moment he was declared fit and he came on the field for the toss, but his injury resurfaced in the match due to which he will not be able to play for CSK this season.

This will be the second time when Dhoni has to lead the team in the middle of the season after leaving the captaincy. Earlier this happened in IPL 2022 as well. Dhoni left the captaincy of CSK after IPL 2021. In such a situation, Dhoni again took over the captaincy of the team in the middle.

Out of this, it has lost four consecutive matches. CSK defeated Mumbai Indians in their first match of the season. Since this victory, the CSK team has deviated from its rhythm. CSK's sixth match this season will be played against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground on April 11.
