Mumbai. There was a big uproar in Maharashtra Assembly on Tuesday over the violence that erupted in Nagpur. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed this violence as a well-planned conspiracy and said that Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had demonstrated demanding the removal of Aurangzeb's grave. During this, those people symbolically burnt the grave's sheet. After this, a rumour was spread that there was a religious symbol on it, due to which the atmosphere became heated and violence broke out.
The Chief Minister said that a mob of about 80 to 100 people were involved in the violence, who pelted stones and attacked police officers. During this, a police officer was attacked with an axe, while three DCP level officers were also attacked. Some houses were also targeted in the violence and a DCP was attacked with an axe.
How much loss in Nagpur violence
The Chief Minister said that this violence spread due to a rumor, which said that the sheet placed on the symbolic grave had a religious symbol. This rumor further escalated the controversy. He clearly said that 'no one can take the law into their own hands. This was a completely well-planned conspiracy.'
CM Fadnavis told the House that 'So far 12 two-wheelers have been damaged in the Nagpur violence, four-wheelers including a crane and two JCBs have been burnt, many people have been attacked with swords and a total of 33 policemen have been injured, including three DCP level officers. Apart from this, five common citizens were attacked, one policeman was attacked with an axe and five cases have been registered so far. In view of the situation, Section 144 has been imposed in 11 police station areas and five contingents of SRPF have been deployed.'
'Aurangzeb is a stigma'
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde also targeted Congress over this violence and said, 'Who is Aurangzeb? He is a stigma. The situation in Nagpur is now under control, but yesterday the hospital was vandalized. What kind of a way is this to protest?'
Shinde also raised the question, 'Where did the attackers get petrol bombs from?' He said that it was a completely well-planned conspiracy, in which stones were pelted on the police, petrol bombs were thrown and a total of 40 policemen were injured.
Attacking the Congress, Shinde said, 'You are comparing the Chief Minister with Aurangzeb? Aurangzeb was a traitor, you are comparing him with Shivaji Maharaj? Maharashtra Congress President is supporting Aurangzeb, he should apologize for this.
