Omar Abdullah Criticizes Jammu and Kashmir's Current System as 'Rubbish' and 'Poor'

The Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, said in News18 India's Diamond Summit program that the current system of governance in the state is rubbish and poor. He said that when the state was a full state, our status was different. Today we are not a state. There is a huge difference between a Union Territory and a state. However, he said that he hopes that we will get the status of a full state soon. The country's PM Narendra Modi and other big leaders have given assurance. In such a situation, we hope that we will get the status of a full state. Regarding the achievements of his government, he said that in the last four months, we have worked to reduce the distance between the public and the government. We have improved the power situation this winter.

He further said that at present there is a dual power system in the state. LG has a lot of power. This is not an effective system. Rather, this is the most rubbish and worst system of governance. Instead, there should be either a Union Territory or a full-fledged state. If it is a UT, then it should not have an assembly. Doing this is cheating the people. This system does not work.

Why is there no dual power system in the country?

He said that why is there no dual power system in the country. If this system is good, then run this system in the whole country. To say that this system is a very successful system is nonsense. This system should not exist. If there is an assembly in a state, then the government there should get full rights.

Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. Transition has been done by now. Central rule was in place for the last six years. It has nothing to do with changing the status of the state. Despite this, we are doing our work in this system. The dual system has been in place for the last four months. Elections were held as per the order of the Supreme Court. On a question, he said that the session is from March 3. We will talk about whatever we want to say. We have no quarrel with the Modi government. Working together with the central government is another matter. This does not mean that we are with the BJP.
