During the attack in Pahalgam, the terrorists asked the tourists to recite Kalma, those who did not know were shot. People are asking on social media that what is this Kalma? Is it a crime to not recite Kalma? How justified is it to shoot for not reciting Kalma? According to those who know Islam, if the brutal terrorists of Pahalgam had understood the real meaning of Kalma then they would not have done such a cowardly act. Let's know the answers to all these questions.
First let us know this verse of Quran
According to senior journalist and writer Mazkoor Alam, there is a verse in Quran- 'Lakum Deenukum Wali Deen'. It means "You have your religion and I have my religion." This verse is in Surah Al-Kafirun (109th Surah) and it gives the message of tolerance and co-existence among religions. People like Waheed, Syed Adil Hussain, Nazakat Ali have explained the meaning of Islam very well. Adil from Pahalgam gave his life fighting with terrorists, to save tourists, he was a pony driver. Waheed was also a pony driver. He saved many lives by taking them to the hospital. And Nazakat did it by hiding.
It does not give Muslims the right to kill anyone else
According to Mazkoor Alam, this verse is for those who believe in other religions that they should follow their religion and those who believe in Allah, should follow their religion. This verse gives the message that every person has the right to live according to his religion. The simple meaning of this verse is that it does not give rights to Muslims over those who follow other religions. This verse does not promote conflict between religions, rather it talks about peace and brotherhood.
What is the meaning of Kalma, let us first understand it
Mazkur Alam says that it is said in Islam that 'La ilaha illallah, Muhammad Rasool ul Lallah'. This is called reading Kalma. This means that Allah is one and Mohammed is his messenger or prophet. That is, whoever is a Muslim, he should believe that the things said in Kalma are correct. One of its meanings is that whoever is a Muslim, must read Kalma. To enter Islam, it is necessary to read the first Kalma Tayyab, which is read in two parts. Allah is the God, whom Muslims worship and bow their heads before. This is the reason why a Muslim bows his head only in worship of Allah.

Who made the rules of reciting Kalma, know here
According to Mazkoor Alam, about 1450 years ago, the last prophet of Islam, Hazrat Mohammad Sahib made five rules for the followers of Islam. Kalma, Namaz, Roza, Zakat and Haj. Kalma is the first step of these rules. Six Kalmas describe the entire concept of Islam, which includes Kalma Tayyab, Kalma Shahadat, Kalma Tamjid, Kalma Tauheed, Kalma Istighfar and Kalima Radd e Kufr. It is about things like life and death, heaven and hell, devotion to Allah.
Forcing someone to recite Kalma is a big crime in Islam
Mazkoor Alam tells that in Pahalgam, terrorists forcibly asked tourists to recite Kalma. When they did not do so, the terrorists shot them. It is a crime to force someone to recite Kalma and convert them to Islam. In this verse of Sura Bakra, verse 256 of Quran Sharif, it is clearly stated that there is no compulsion of any kind in Islam. In the verse 'Lau Shaa Rabbuka' present in Sura Yunus of Quran Sharif, it is stated that 'If God wanted, all those present on earth would have been Muslims. When God did not force them to become Muslims, will you force them?' It is a sin to make someone accept Islam by force, deception or allurement.
Killing in the name of Islam is the biggest sin
The mentioned Alam also tells that if someone has not recited Kalma, it does not mean that he should be killed. It is stated in Quran that killing innocent people is against Islam. Allah has stated in verse 93 of Suratunnisa of Quran Sharif that whoever kills someone intentionally, his punishment is Hell. Killing innocent people for one's own benefit is a big sin.
Battle of Karbala a turning point for Islam
The Battle of Karbala took place in the city of Karbala in present-day Iraq on 10 Muharram 61 Hijri (10 October 680 AD) of the Islamic calendar. This battle was fought between a small group of supporters and relatives of Hazrat Imam Hussain Ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad, and a military contingent of the Umayyad ruler Yazid I. In this battle, Hazrat Hussain, the grandson of Muhammad, and the male members of his family, along with his companions, were martyred. This battle proved to be a turning point for Islam. It is said that Hazrat Hussain was coming to India.
What happened in Pahalgam, the country was horrified
At around 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam and killed at least 26 people. These terrorists had come in army uniform. The terrorists first asked the tourists about their religion, name, asked them to recite Kalma and then shot them saying they were Hindus. Most of the 26 dead are tourists, while two are foreigners and two are local citizens. This is the biggest terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack in February 2019.
