Pahalgam Terror Attack: Were Pakistani SSG Commandos Involved? Rising Demand for 'Israel-Style' Retaliation

Islamabad: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, there is an atmosphere of grief and anger in the whole world. There is a demand for revenge from every side in India. People say that the revenge should be such that seven generations of terrorists remember it. It is believed that the Pahalgam attack was supported by the Pakistani Army and intelligence agency ISI. Such inputs have been received that the planning of this attack was hatched in Rawalkot of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, whose mastermind was Saifullah Kasuri of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Was Pakistani SSG commandos involved in the attack?

There is a possibility of involvement of many foreign terrorists in this attack. At the same time, some experts say that looking at the pattern of the attack, it seems that the SSG commandos of the Pakistani Army were behind it. However, the matter is being investigated by India. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and related security agencies are closely analyzing every angle of this incident. Sketches of the terrorists involved in the attack have also been released, from which two of them have been identified as Kashmiri terrorists.

Comparison with Hamas attack on Israel

On social media, the Pahalgam terrorist attack is being compared to the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. During this attack too, like Hamas, the terrorists asked the religion of the tourists and then shot them. Some reports also claim that the tourists were shot after opening their pants and checking their private parts. Hamas also targeted ordinary Israeli citizens, especially Jews, during the October 7 attack. Unarmed Israelis participating in the musical festival were fired upon indiscriminately.

Will India also respond like Israel?

In such a situation, the question arises whether India will also take revenge like Israel. There is also a demand for revenge in Israeli style on social media, which has also been reiterated by many defense experts. Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid has called it 'Pulwama 2' after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. He has directly blamed the Pakistani army for this massacre. Vaid compared the attack to the Hamas-style attack on Israel on October 7 and claimed that the attackers were actually Pakistan's SSG commandos.

Why India will not adopt the Israeli approach

Defence expert and expert Yusuf Unjhawala wrote on X, "India's response cannot and will not be like Israel's. Hamas is not a state and does not have nuclear weapons like what Pakistan has. Yet, Israel's war has been going on for more than a year and a half. In my opinion, India will respond militarily after due deliberation. It will be difficult for the Modi government not to do so. The targets chosen and the level of escalation have to be considered. We have to respond not only for political reasons but also to draw redlines."
