Pant’s Last-Over Brilliance Seals the Day, KL Rahul Welcomes Him With Cheers in Dressing Room

Leeds: By the end of the first day of the first Test at Headingley, Rishabh Pant did something that only he could do. When the day's play was about to end, most batsmen think of playing safe. But Pant did not do so. India's score was 351. Pant came out of the crease and hit Chris Woakes' ball straight over deep square leg for a six. Woakes was surprised. England captain Ben Stokes also smiled. But the funniest reaction was from KL Rahul.

    KL Rahul welcomed

When Rishabh Pant was going back after scoring 65 not out, Rahul stood near the dressing room and folded his hands and showed respect to Pant. It was both praise and a joke. Pant continued his aggressive batting and remained unbeaten till the end of the day. India scored 359/3 on the first day of the first Test. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill gave a strong start for India. Jaiswal became the first batsman to score a century in his very first Test in Australia and England. He scored 101 runs. Gill remained unbeaten after scoring 127 runs.

Did wonders in the last over

Pant came in the last session and changed the momentum of the game. He scored runs quickly. He scored 65 runs in 91 balls, which included two sixes and seven fours. Rahul also batted well. He scored 42 runs in 78 balls and shared a 91-run partnership for the first wicket. The sun was setting at Headingley. Rishabh Pant did what only Rishabh Pant can do. It was the last over of the day. Most batsmen play safe at that time. But Pant is different. India's score was 351/3. Pant hit a six off Chris Woakes. Woakes and Ben Stokes were shocked. KL Rahul bowed to Pant and greeted him.

Pant did not give up his aggressive batting. He remained unbeaten till the end of the day. Pant's six was not careless. He played the shot at the right time. Pant's arrival changed the momentum of the game. He scored runs quickly. He scored 65 runs in 91 balls. Rahul also scored 42 runs. They shared a 91-run partnership for the first wicket. Sai Sudarshan had a bad debut. He was out without opening the account. He looked nervous.
