Patna Airport Shocker: Major Update Leaves Passengers Disappointed—Find Out Why!

Patna Airport Latest Update: A new and big update has come regarding Patna's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport. This new update may disappoint the people of Patna and the passengers traveling from Patna airport. Actually, the agencies associated with the expansion work of Patna airport have accepted that the terminal construction work may take time to complete. Therefore, passengers traveling from Patna airport will have to travel from the old terminal for the next few months.

Let us tell you here that the expansion and makeover work of Patna airport is being done at a cost of about Rs 1400 crore. Under the current plan, the terminal building was to be expanded at Patna airport along with the construction of an air traffic service building. Apart from this, parallel taxi track, cargo complex, parking building and G+1 building were to be constructed on the airside. In December 2024, Airport Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Vipin Kumar, after visiting Patna airport, had assured that all other works including terminal expansion, makeover would be completed by January 2025.

These works have been completed at Patna airport

According to the senior AAI officer associated with the planning of Patna airport, about 90 percent of the work of the proposed plan has been completed at the existing Patna airport. Among the works completed so far, the construction of Air Traffic Service (ATS) building, parallel taxi-way, cargo complex, parking building, G+1 building along with the expansion of the terminal building has been completed 100 percent. Apart from this, the work of dormitory and immigration counter inside the terminal has also been completed. The remaining work will also be completed soon.

    These works are causing delays

A senior ASI officer said that the main works that are yet to be completed at Patna airport include the work of aerobridge and aircraft parking. To complete both the works, all the teams of the concerned agencies including AAI are working on a war footing. He said that after the completion of the work of aerobridge and parking facility, the process of testing and certification of facilities including check-in area, in-line baggage system, immigration counter and aerobridge will be completed. This entire process may take a few months.
