The cleaning work of Yamuna in Delhi will be done more rapidly. In fact, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting regarding cleaning of Yamuna. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also participated in this meeting. PM Modi instructed to work by making a plan of 3 months, one and a half years and 3 years regarding cleaning of Yamuna. Along with this, instructions were given to monitor the cleaning work in real time. He has also emphasized on stopping the wastage of water to solve the problem of drinking water.
There is a plan to prepare a comprehensive 'Urban River Management Plan' for cleaning the Yamuna river. It will be linked to the master plan of the capital. The Prime Minister emphasized on giving Yamuna the form of a mass movement and promoting public participation. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for concrete efforts to provide a better experience to the citizens on the banks of Yamuna during Chhath Puja.
The plan was divided into 3 parts
The plan to clean the Yamuna river was discussed in detail in the meeting. Officials explained how they will clean the river and improve the water. The plan has been divided into 3 parts. The first part includes immediate works, which will be completed in three months. The second part has medium-term works, which will take 3 months to one and a half years. The third part has long-term works, which will take 1.5 years to 3 years to complete. What work is to be done in each part and what is its goal, it has been clearly told.
Special focus on these works
Many things will be taken care of to clean the river. This includes management of drains and waste, treatment of sewage and septage, disposal of waste from dairies and industries, increasing the flow of the river and securing the flood plains. A deadline has been set to complete these works on time. The condition of the Yamuna river from Delhi to Haryana and Prayagraj was reviewed in the meeting. The Prime Minister was told how much dirty water is coming into the river, how the sewage treatment plants (STPs) are working and what problems the administration is facing.
