PM Modi Lands in Varanasi, Takes Charge: "Catch the Culprits, Punish Without Mercy"

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour of his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today. Here, as soon as he got off the plane at Varanasi airport, the Prime Minister first summoned everyone from the Police Commissioner to the DM. The PM first took detailed information from them about the gang rape incident in Varanasi. The officials told him about this incident in detail. PM Modi listened to it very carefully and instructed these top officials to immediately identify the culprits of this incident and take strict action against them. He ordered the officers to take such action which would set an example.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi on Friday morning on his one-day visit and deboarded the plane. Immediately after landing at the airport, Varanasi's Police Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate came to him. The PM took detailed information from these officials about a gang rape incident that happened in the city a few days ago.

The PM told these three top officials that all the culprits should be identified soon and strict action should be taken against them. He also asked the officials to ensure that this incident does not recur in future. The PM was in a very serious mood during the conversation with the officials. He was obviously angry at such a big incident happening in his parliamentary constituency. He also stressed on taking such steps so that such an incident does not happen again in future.

In fact, a case of gang rape of a 19-year-old girl by 23 people has come to light in Varanasi. The police have so far arrested nine accused in this case and sent all of them on remand. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.

Assistant Police Commissioner Vidush Saxena said that the victim is fine and the police is constantly in touch with her family.

The victim's family refused to talk to the media. Her mother said, "Whatever you want to ask, you can talk to the police."

Officials said that the girl had gone somewhere with some youths on March 29 and when she did not return home, her family filed a missing report on April 4. Police had earlier said that when the police recovered the girl, she did not tell about the rape, but the girl's family filed a complaint on April 6, in which the girl was accused of gang rape.

Police said that after this, a case was registered against 12 named and 11 unknown people under sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police have identified the named accused as Raj Vishwakarma, Sameer, Ayush, Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, Zaheer, Imran, Zaib, Aman and Raj Khan.
