PM Modi’s Thrilling Gir Safari: Face-to-Face with a Majestic Lion Herd – What Happened Next?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoyed a jungle safari in Gujarat's Gir Wildlife Sanctuary on World Wildlife Day and got a close view of Asiatic lions. PM Modi was seen clicking pictures of the lions with a DSLR camera. In another picture, he is seen observing the lions while holding the camera in his hand. One of the pictures also captures a lioness affectionately caressing a cub.

PM Modi to Chair NBWL Meeting

Later in the evening, Prime Minister Modi will chair the seventh meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL). A total of 47 members will participate in this meeting, including the Army Chief, representatives from various states, members of NGOs, Chief Wildlife Wardens, and Secretaries of different states.

Following the meeting, PM Modi will also interact with women forest employees in Sasan.

PM Modi’s Message on Wildlife Conservation

Before heading to the sanctuary, PM Modi shared a video on social media platform X. He wrote:

"On World Wildlife Day, let us reiterate our commitment to protect and preserve the incredible biodiversity of our planet. Every species plays an important role - let's protect their future for generations to come! We are also proud of India's contribution to the conservation and protection of wildlife."

The post was accompanied by a video clip from 2023, in which PM Modi spoke about India’s natural urge towards biodiversity conservation. The clip is from his speech during the ‘Commemoration of 50 Years of Project Tiger’ program in Mysore, Karnataka.

    India’s Commitment to Wildlife Conservation

Addressing global concerns about the rising tiger population in India compared to other countries where tiger numbers are either stable or declining, PM Modi reiterated:

"India does not believe in the conflict between ecology and economy, but gives equal importance to the co-existence of both."
